As wage growth continues to lag inflation and as hourly earnings drop 3% in 2022, some experts argue that remote work may be partly to blame. Why? Well, it's complicated, but one theory is that employers consider the benefits of remote work—e.g., no commute, more time with family, etc., — to be substitutes for higher wages.
